Deireadh Fomhair Challenge #9 - Something suitable for a child

Hello! Today is the first Friday of 'Deireadh Fomhair' (Irish for October), and November is Samhain in Irish which is also the name for 'Hallowe'en' in Irish. It is believed that the old Irish ritual Samhain (October 31st) is where celebrating Hallowe'en originated. This is the one night that the spirits had easier access to this world, hence why all the scary customs and rituals (for example "Trick or Treat") began, as all the spirits were crossing between the afterlife and this life and able to trick and scare people!

Thank you so much for all your beautiful entries. As usual, we found it very difficult to choose a top 3. Our wonderful DT choose
1st #73 Norma
2nd #14 Nela
Tied 3rd#61 Chris and #15 Cheremane

Please take the badge and display it proudly on your sidebar.

For October's (Deireadh Fomhair) challenge, the theme is:
"Something suitable for a child or has a childish theme"

Our challenges are open to ANYTHING crafty or arty - cardmaking, scrapbooking, altered art, crochet, knitting, sewing, cake decorating, painting, drawing, candle making, jewellery making, whatever makes you craft or be creative we would like to see it!

This month we would like to welcome our new DT members to Craft for the Craic.

My name is Yvonne, I’m originally from Co Dublin, but have lived in Co Wicklow for the past 18 years.  I am married with 2 lovely boys,
and I’ve been card making for the past 10 years, I was a florist for nearly 25 years. and bring this to my card making, to add extra little touches.
As a child I was very crafty, and had my own craft shop in the Cotswolds for 3 years in the early 90s
everything I sold I made myself, or hand finished it. I got into card making, when I learned Quilling and Decoupage at the local WI group, and sold very simple card in my shop.
I took up the hobby up again 10 years ago, as I was a stay at home Mum, and was looking for something to do.
The greatest pleasure I get from my hobby is sharing something new, with my craft group in Kilcoole.
it’s a passion, and some would say and addiction, it can be a very expensive hobby, so I try to teach, simple but pretty cards, and nearly always come up with a new fold or design for each class. And I get great inspiration for other crafty blogs, so hope you enjoy the cards I share. You can find me at Card Art Kilcoole, and please get in touch if you need any help.

My name is Joanna. I was born and raised in Poland but 8 years I have moved to Ireland.
I have a  husband Luke and crazy cat Phoebe.
I have startedmy crafts with decoupage around 10 years ago; I tried cross-stitching, felting, iris folding.
I love all types of crafts, now mostly card making. It's my hobby and takes all my free time.
I'm also addicted of buying new supplies :) My craft room is getting bigger and bigger.

August Challenge #7 - A Craft Item you have never used before

Hello! Hope you are having a lovely Friday. This is the beginning of our Irish August Bank Holiday. We are having a beautifully warm Summer, unusual for Irish weather ;)

Thank you so much for joining in our challenge last month. With great difficulty we choose our winners, there was a 4 way tie this month, so our 4 joint winners are as follows :-)

Joint 1st - # Lidya
            Joint 1st - # Jenyoung808
        Joint 1st - # Deonna B
 Joint 1st - # Gail L

Thanks again to all who played along with Craft for the Craic, and congratulations to our Top 4!
Please take the badge from the side to display it on your blog!

For August, the theme is "A Craft item you have never used before". Maybe it is the pack of paper that has been too pretty to open, or the roll of washi tape that wandered under the desk! Whatever it is, we would like to see something that has never been used before. Please be sure to mention what the item is!

Here is what our Design Team have to show you:

First up This Month we would like to introduce You to our newest team Member

Hello Arty Souls!!!
This is my first post as I have joined this wonderfully creative DT recently:)
I wanted to show you something FUN today- my altered brush!!! This is huge brush, which I never used. It was sitting in my craft room forever and I decided to use it first time but as a surface to paint on:) Its really fun project and you can use your imagination and alter it with scraps of paper, flowers, beads etc. Check out Sylwia's blog post HERE

This month Sylvie has been crafting with Tin Foil :-)
Check out her VIDEO to see how she made this lovely card.

Hi everyone. This month challenge was a hard one =)  I dont tend to buy something and not use it straight away. So I was frantically searching through my stash and found a pearl dabber! I have used it all over flowers and add some sparkle.

This month Michelle has made a Mini Album, using a paper collection she has had in her stash for at least a couple of years :-) check out her post HERE

My version of the unused craft item.
This is a T-shirt with a 'bleach dyed'  skull pattern using a cut-out skull shape and stamped with a selection of stamps from my stash. Simples.

A second attempt same technique, but stamping over the bleached areas using inks suitable for fabric. ColorBox / StazOn.

I made a card with a lot of papers and embellishments that I never used before - The pink paper at the left side, the black irridescent board and the beautiful felt flowers.

So that's our Design Team's beautiful inspiration :)
